Family Adventures

The perfect adventure for your entire family

Whether adventuring with little ones, or exploring with four generations, we will tailor a trip to suit your group's style, pace, and comfort level. Private whale watching and marine wildlife tours, all age friendly fishing charters, or a combination trip.

The beauty of our private trips (as opposed to the pay per seat model)  is that we can build the trip to suit your crew. We can create a more dynamic itinerary to benefit your group's overall experience.

With our seasoned guide, these trips explore the waters surrounding Ucluelet, BC. Ranging north to Long Beach, south through the Broken Group Islands, and deep into Barkley Sound. This territory is full of fun experiences.

Both of our vessels are built with safety in mind. Our 30 foot boats run twin V8 outboard motors for redundancy and offer high gunnels which are great for containing kids, and kids at heart.

Oceans West Adventures offers special pricing (half price) for kids ages 10 and under.

Experience our local wildlife amongst one of the most scenic backdrops found anywhere in British Columbia on this 4.5-5 hour trip. Watch for spouts and flukes as we cruise down through Barkley Sound or north Towards Long Beach, transiting the whale's historical feeding grounds. Watch Eagles soar, listen to the Stellar Sea Lion growl, and look for Black Bears rolling rocks on the beach. Take a breather and drop the fishing lines on productive grounds for an hour or two. Taste the salt air while we put in a couple of rounds in search of dinner.  Ling Cod, Vermillion, Coho, and Chinook Salmon are delectable fresh fare.

Afternoon Sportfishing

This is an excellent introduction to fishing off the Pacific Rim for adults and kids alike. There is no need to drag everyone out of bed for an early start; rather we will cruise off the dock around 1-2:30pm for this 4-hour trip.  Soak in the beautifully rugged coastline while fishing inshore for Chinook (King) and Coho (Silver) Salmon from the Broken Group Islands and Barkley Sound, west to Florencia Bay. Ling Cod, drawn to the structure off the islands, are lesser known but delicious and a crowd favorite to catch.

Relax, catch up with your crew, and immerse yourself in the coastal marine environment while awaiting your first big bite.

Spend a morning plying The Pacific Rim's inshore waters or middle banks. Depending on conditions, expected productivity, and group preference, this trip offers two options:  Fish along the coastline and amongst the islands for Salmon, Ling, and Rockfish, or troll the inner banks targeting Chinook and a chance at Halibut. This charter allows you to travel further when beneficial and spends significantly more time with the rods in the water than on the afternoon trip.

Spend 3-3.5 hours one afternoon amongst the animals of The Pacific Rim that thrive within the marine ecosystem. Look for Black Bears as you cruise through the inlets. Visit the Sea Lion colony and watch the Eagles fishing for lunch. Don't forget to keep an eye out for Whale tails and spouts! Humpback and Grey Whales are our common sightings, migrating by the thousands in the spring, with some choosing to take up residency in historical inshore feeding grounds through the summer months. Transient Orcas (Killer Whales) grace us with the occasional visit throughout the year.
